Laclede Academy

Laclede Academy is a boarding school of the utmost importance located in Saint Louis, Missouri. Parents send their children ( 14-18 ) there for only the best possible education. The school offers an emphasis on daily in-class discussion and expression of ideas, high-level reading and writing skills, and in-depth knowledge of subject matter. A daily schedule of relatively short classes allows students more independent study time (with study hall for new students), maximum access to teachers for help as needed outside of class, and better preparation for college life. Interscholastic athletics, fine arts, community service, and many other activities complement the intellectual challenge, and long vacations provide time to relax, travel, and pursue one’s own interests. Founded by Nathaniel Laclede in 1956 the school has been upheld as only one of the best in its decades of existence. The campus is located in a secluded off road area where it is hidden from those passing by. Large trees and a thick white bricked wall encircle the prestigious school keeping students captive until the weekends.

The school seems perfect, almost too perfect. There are rumors though of strange events occurring on the large grounds, though the words rarely leave the mouths of those outside of its walls. Students disappear, there are screams in the night, bodies found with in the halls all of it unexplained….or so the staff would like to make you think. Here at Laclede Academy the supposedly friendly and ever helpful staff are not what they seem, they are heartless and abuse and use the students for their own dirty deeds. You see, every staff member has a dark secret. Chances are, if you know something you won’t last.

The world at large is aware that there is more to life than humanity - they've known this for a long time. Human rights are more 'species rights', vampires walk amongst us, werewolves have PC terminology. Their children are educated with our children - sharing this world in harmony is the key - though we seem, still, to be a way off of that.

For all the world has been aware of the preternatural for hundreds, if not thousands, of years, the world is far from peaceful in this regard (much like in every other regard). It's getting to be a hostile environment in some countries, and the world is collectively holding it's breath as things seem to be in a time of change. Supernatural legislation is being accused of being too harsh, and both shifters and vampires both want their respective species to no longer be considered diseases and be recognized as proper races and peoples. Experimentation on the supernatural has also been going strong and people are moving to have it halted, as much of it is harmful or seems to be. There are large groups of people boycotting a company which has boasted it's tireless search for a 'cure' for everything, stating it could be used as weaponry against them as a people at large. It's motivations are publicly pure, but the implications and morality are being challenged. (note: so far they haven't 'cured' anything.)

In the midst of this lies a school with national independence. Quaesitis Academy.

The Academy is not the only school of its kind - serving, as it does, both preternatural beings and 'normal' humans, but it is considered the top of them all. It's the oldest established, and has a long, detailed history and still remains strong today. It's the only one of it's kind with national autonomy, keeping it's roots deeply in the idea that they are there for the world, not for one part of it. Getting into the school or graduating from it will open doors for a person world wide. It's often thought that if a student comes from there--they can go anywhere and do anything they want. It's the epitome of prestigious. Contrary to it's popularity and the millions they could be making on opening the school up for larger numbers, the school also maintains it's motives towards it's students. The school presumably will eternally remain small, allowing all of it's students a very hands on, interactive learning environment. No one falls through the cracks here, and they mean to keep it that way.

They take a variety of students - from the rich kids that can pay their way, to the children who are court-ordered to attend, taking in the orphans of previous pupils along the way. The mix of students is wide, considering the age range - the last two years of college, plus a three year university course. It attempts to be a world of its own, secluded as it is on a Carribean island, but the world has a way of interfering...

[Location: Red Dragon Head Quarters]

The members of the Red Dragon stared in awe at the scene before them. Their new leader dead at the top of the stairs while the man responsible for both his untimely demise the interior rape of the building they called home recently collapsed down the staircase. With no one to guide them, they stood frozen, unable to execute a motion that might bring order to the chaos surrounding them.

It was in this moment that the Intra Solar System Police made their move. Desperately waiting for the right time to bring down the Red Dragons, Captain Hayward had ordered his men to move into the building, following Spike’s reign of destruction. Swarms of SWAT team members filled every nook and cranny of the high-rise, arresting syndicate goons or killing those who refused to surrender. In only a matter of minutes they gained controlled of the skyscraper, from the basement floor to the roof of the building. Helicopters circled in the morning air, spotlighting those attempting to make a run from the wreckage.

And, in the blink of an eye, the bodies of both Spike Spiegel and his archenemy Vicious were gone.

Spike lifted his head off the bartop and blinked his eyes open slowly. One hand raised up to massage his aching temples, while the other instinctively felt along his hip for the Jericho normally kept holstered there. As his vision came into focus, his eyes settled on the glass of whiskey sitting half drunk in front of him.

He didn't remember drinking the first half. Come to think of it, he didn't remember much at all after collapsing down the stairs of the Red Dragon Headquarters.

He should have been dead. He knew he should have been dead. He had killed Vicious and Vicious had killed him and that should have been the end of everything. So why was he suddenly sitting in a bar with a screaming headache that indicated he'd spent the last night drinking his sorrows away instead of avenging them again his former partner and best friend?

It's all just a bad dream.

Maybe everything had been a dream after all.

Slowly, Spike slipped off the stool, steadying himself on wobbly legs. Regardless of what had happened, his body was still recovering. He flagged down the bartender, a small man with a pleasant smile, and asked for his check. The bartender replied that he'd already paid his tab. Shrugging, Spike slipped his hand into his pocket and headed out into the night....

Game Opens April 15th

Despite the long awaited defeat of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, the structure of the Wizarding world was still crumbling beneath the pressure. Death Eaters scattered, loyalties questioned, and the grief that ran rampant through the heart of many, prevented the immediate change in Wizarding society. After years of danger the citizens of Wizarding Britain remained cautious and intimidated.

Was He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named truly gone? Would he be able to rise again? Was the Wizarding World beyond repair? Could they dare to hope for the peaceful future that was long overdue?

With Kingsley Shaklebolt as Minister of Magic and Harry Potter taking a spot among the Aurors, Witches and Wizards everywhere began to emerge from behind locked and warded doors: to slowly return the full lives that had become distant memories of the past. The economy flourished, population increased, and most importantly a peaceful atmosphere was finally established.

It has been almost seven years since the passing of Tom Riddle. The Wizarding world has prospered, building upon the ruins of the old, but just as the past has been littered with war and heartache, so shall the future. As the year 2005 dawned on the Wizarding world, a new threat darkened the doorstep of the Wizarding world. It isn't Muggleborns or Half-bloods being targeted. Not this time. This time Purebloods are falling beneath the onslaught of discrimination. Threatening letters and words written in blood have appeared at several Pureblood homes and popular Wizarding establishments, all signed with the same cryptic signature.

The Society for the Destruction of Pureblood Supremacy is an organization of individuals who remember what it was like to be prosecuted for being born with Muggle blood flowing through their veins. These individuals find the new measures taken by the Ministry of Magic to be far more lenient than what they should be.

Many died during the last war because their blood was not pure, and it is believed by SDPS that the only successful measure to prevent it from happening again is to remove the threat from the equation: the complete destruction of the Pureblood families.

The Ministry of Magic has taken precautions and the Department of Magical Law Enforcement investigation in under full swing. Unfortunately, little is known about this organization. Their attacks are done by Muggle means, which leaves to room to trace a source of Magic. Letters continue to arrive and blood continues to be shed. The only way to stop the cycle is to find the source, but how long will it take to discover? Will it be too late?

I'm looking to play just about any character HERE. I'd love a post-DH (especially for Ginny and Hermione) game or a First War game for my older characters (especially Bella and Rosmerta). But I'm open to anything if the game's interesting and there's plot-a-plenty! Poke me and we'll chat! Also I'd like to find a Charlie Weasley to play against my HESTIA JONES! *What I'm looking for in a game is activity and quality. I like at least 10 characters before I join. Although I will certainly consider new games that have fewer characters as long as the mods and players are dedicated. I'm not really fond of AU games, but if it's really really good, I'll consider it. I am a canon whore. No joke. I love the lexicon.

Since the dawn of time they've been blamed for all of life's oddities. A strange noise? It must be a ghost. Pets mangled and eaten? Maybe a werewolf got them. That pale man that never ventures out in the day? A vampire, surely. Children behaving badly must be changelings, and that table had to have been forced into your path by a mischievous sprite, now giggling at your misfortune. The list goes on. For each being, there are hundreds of tales, most pure delusion of course, though much of it based in fact. From Nessie and Sasquatch to the Bermuda Triangle and the Land of Mu, our world is filled with the unattainable, the unexplainable... that which we call Myth, or Legend. Yet, like the Will O' the Wisp, or the ghost breath that sends a shiver down your spine, the truth tugs softly at our conscience. Whispers in the dark of a boogeyman in the shadows, or a fairy spinning gossamer tales in the corners of your mind. They are real. And in so many ways... they are just like you. They work. They feed. They even have children. And just like humans, those children go to school. School however, isn’t always as just classes and homework. Strange old castles often have far more lurking about them than is so readily apparent. Ancient curses have been set loose on the school. Memory loss. Sickness. Power switching... Was it an accident? Or are more sinister plans afoot? Unanswered questions abound as the students and staff first try and understand exactly what has happened to them... Welcome to Halcyon Halls. X-Project: X-Men Movieverse RPG on Livejournal

X-Project is a Livejournal X-Men Movieverse game which began in May 2003. It is based on continuity established in the first and second movies (by necessity, the third movie does not exist), and relies on a combination of in-character journals and e-mail/AIM-based logs.

There is something for everyone in X-Project, whether a fan of the comics, movies, or just someone with a passing interest in exciting interaction. The game balances the intense world of the X-Men's activities with the interpersonal relationships formed by having two teams of mutant activists - the X-Men and X-Force - plus a school for young mutants learning to control their abilities.

Most of all, X-Project is a chance for both participants and readers to enjoy innovative and cooperative storytelling in an ever-changing setting.

FEATURED CHARACTER:
A refugee from Vietnam, Xi'an Coy Manh, or "Shan" as she prefers to be called, is the daughter of a South Vietnamese war veteran suffering from post traumatic stress and a leg injury. The family immigrated to the US when Shan was a young teen - it was on the refugee boat that she manifested her ability to psionically possess others when they were attacked by pirates. She built herself a successful life in the State, studying hard, until her college graduation when a hotel fire killed her parents, made her twin brother and her uncle fugitives from the FBI and placed the responsibility for raising her young siblings directly in her hands. Struggling to cope for some time, she eventually got a job at Xavier's as the school's librarian, the position suiting her quiet, orderly nature and the school providing an education to her younger brother and sister, also twins and both X-positive. She remains at the school, caring for Leong and Nga and debating whether or not it is time to take an active role in her own life again.

Asphodel: Powdered root of asphodel is used in the Draught of Living Death. This plant is traditionally associated with the afterlife and the underworld.

We are living in a world of uncertainty now. Before, the only worries we truly had were whether or not we would pass our examinations or if the marauders were the ones responsible for turning everyone's hair a nice shade of lilac. But times are changing and things are getting darker out in the real world. A growing army is fast approaching; friends and family members are disappearing more often and there are a growing number of events happening that can no longer be explained easily. All done by he who dare calls himself Lord.

Asphodel is a game focused almost entirely on the war of the late 1970s that threw the entire wizarding world into chaos. With darkening themes and realistic events, it won't be for those who are faint at heart and can't bear to sit back and watch our most beloved characters thrown into the lion's den.

I never used to think much about any of that, I thought it all was all bunk, the work of fiction or an over active imagination (Maybe too much pizza before bedtime.). I never believed any of it before I moved to Seattle. Never thought any of it could be true until I bought a renovated condo in the Old Town Towers. But not even the things I saw there could prepare me for what happened underground. Now, I know things like ghosts and werewolves and such can’t exist. But what about that housekeeping woman that walks through walls, and one time walked right through me? Or that creepy pale guy in D5 who always smells like blood (or the woman beside him that always smells like garlic)? Strange howling sounds, terrified screams, disappearing pets..."
